The first professional copy I ever wrote brought in $3.3 million.
After getting my Master's in psychology, I was as an analyst at a non-profit in Los Angeles. They needed someone to help write the grants, and since I was already steeped in data, I volunteered. We won the entire $3.3 million award we were applying for, winning against hundreds of other applicants, many of them career grant writers.
I've been winning story contests since grade school and essay contests since college. But this was the first time my writing turned into real dollars. And it felt great.
I've since twisted my advanced psychology degree into a persuasion tool, leveraging it to become an even better copywriter and marketing strategist. With a career that spans direct response, public relations and sales, I've worked with over 500 companies and published well over 5 million words of copy.
